St Catherines Well

In the days before modern plumbing this well was the source of drinking water for Kenure House. The farm hands had to draw the water to the house. It was transported in a large wooden barrel mounted on two wheels with two shafts.  A farmhand was harnessed between the shafts like a horse and a second man pushed from behind. The barrel, when full, was parked in the small yard at the back of the house for use when required. This well is closed for safety reasons.
